Top 10 most beautiful beaches in Croatia
Have you ever been to Croatia and want to try something else? There is still much to discover! Or you are going there for the first time and you don’t know to choose the right place? Just for your information, 116 beaches in Croatia received the prestigious Blue Flag label. However, the country has 1,778 km of coastline with over a thousand islands. So I agree that it is really hard to choose the best one. I prepared a list of the 10 best and most beautiful beaches in Croatia below.
1.) Paradise beach, Lopar – Island Rab
Rab Island offers beaches for everyone – from the cliffs to the sandy shore. The last one, about 2 km long Paradise beach, located on Lopar Peninsula. It features a smooth sand and clean water, heated to 28 °C in the middle of summer. The sea is more shallow. A short distance from shore are pine trees, where you can hide from the sun.

2.) Veli Zal, Sunčana Uvala – Lošinj Island
Beach Veli Zal can be found in the bay Suncana Uvala on the island of Losinj. It is about a kilometer from the centre of the town Mali Lošinj. Bay protects the beach from the wind. It consists of pebbles that offer easy access to the sea. Around the beach is the promenade that stretches along the south side of the island.

3.) Punta, Omiš – Central Dalmatia
Omiš is a paradise for children, situated only a few kilometers south of Split. As the Croatian coast is mainly stony, this beach is the exception! It consists of fine sand delivered by the river Cetina. The beach is more than a kilometer long and has very slow access into the sea.

4.) Nin lagoon, Nin – Northern Dalmatia
City of Nin, situated north of Zadar, is one of the oldest cities in Croatia. It offers many historical monuments. For us, however, more important are the beaches now. They are closed in the Gulf and such protected from the wind. Shallow water is therefore always about 2-3 degrees warmer than on the open sea. The beaches are sandy with a gentle descent, and are therefore ideal both for children or elderly people.

5.) Makarska Riviera – Central Dalmatia
It is one of the most popular resorts in Croatia. It stretches from the town of Baska Voda up to the resort of Tucepi. Here you can choose from almost 20 km of wide variety, mostly pebble beaches. The scenery is really unique here, featured by turquoise sea with the high rocks. You can choose populated beach full of various attractions, but also a small private beach. Those considered the most beautiful beaches on Makarska Riviera include e.g. Slatina in Tucepi Donja Luka in Makarska, then three beaches in Brela resort: Berulija, Stomarica and Punta Rata. American popular magazine Forbes ranked in 2003 the Punta Rata beach the 6th most beautiful beach in the world and 1st in Europe.

6.) Zlatni Rat, Bol – Island Brac
Zlatni Rat is a symbol of elegance of the Adriatic, therefore you can see it in the number of postcards that are sold not only here, but throughout the whole Croatian coast. Beach protrudes into the sea like a finger and is covered with fine gravel. Entering the water is smooth so it is suitable also for children. If you want to go on vacation in the vicinity of this unique beach, look for the resorts Supetar and Bol on the island of Brac. However you can get there also from the mainland. Trips to Rat are organized daily not only from Makarska Riviera but also from the neighboring cities of Split and island of Hvar.

7.) Medveja – Istria
Medveja is a very popular tourist area suitable for the lovers of nature and those looking for a quite place, but also for families with children. You can get here from the port city of Rijeka, by going along the most luxury Croatian resort of Opatija and continue along the sea for at least 13 km. Medveja Beach is nearly one kilometer long.

8.) Red Island, Rovinj – Istria
Rovinj offers several great beaches, however, the most beautiful can be found away from the coast – on the Red Island. You can get here by a boat that runs twice per hour and the journey takes 15 minutes. Since it can not be reached by a car, the beaches are not so crowded as on the coast.

9.) Dražica, Biograd na Moru – Northern Dalmatia
Biograd na Moru is located just few kilometres from Zadar and lies on a beautiful peninsula. You can find here many beaches, but only one of them has been awarded a Blue Flag – it’s more than 300 metres long gravel beach of Dražica.

10.) Medulin – Istria
Medulin is also one of the most popular resorts all over the peninsula. Medulin beach is situated almost on the very southern tip of the area. There are now several hotel complexes, but also many beaches. The beach is due to a smooth entry into the sea suitable for families with children.

I read some posts in other blogs about the best beach in Crotia, they claim that Nin Lagoon is the most perfect compare to other beaches. It seems true when I take a look at the pictures of Nin Lagoon
