Lviv – the spiritual capital of Ukraine
The fascinating and historic town of Lviv is a very popular travel destination in the Ukraine, second only to the capital Kiev. It has plenty to offer visitors at any time of year, and some unique attractions that are sure to delight even the most seasoned traveller.
The historic old town is a national heritage site and is both beautiful and interesting. You can explore by yourself or arrange for a walking tour where you can learn all about the history of Lviv and the work that is going on to renovate the old town. Other historical places of interest in Lviv include its cemetery, which has many interesting monuments, and the beautiful St Yura Cathedral. There are also many beautiful old churches to be discovered.

One of the most interesting things about Lviv is its diverse speciality museums. There is a Pharmacy museum, which is also a working pharmacy and offers plenty of insight into medical history and pharmaceutical research. There is also a museum dedicated entirely to chocolate, at the Lviv chocolate factory. You can take a tour of the working factory, complete, of course, with samples of the merchandise. Similarly, if beer is more your thing, you can have a tour of the Museum of Brewing – and yes, there is a chance to drink some beer there as well as learn about it.
In the evening, Lviv has plenty of lively bars and some great nightclubs, and is a fun and vibrant place for a night on the town.
